PLDM condemns denigration of party and its leader, communiqué

The Liberal Democratic Party of Moldova (PLDM) condemns the attempt to denigrate the party, its leader and its representatives by starting criminal cases by order and warns about the danger of the state institutions being taken under control by certain forces, Info-Prim Neo reports, quoting a statement issued by the PLDM on March 8. “The media reports that representatives of the PLDM are investigated in a case by the National Anticorruption Center form part of a campaign against the party and are aimed at exerting political pressure with a view to gaining full control of the state institutions. The PLDM earlier warned the public opinion in Moldova and abroad that the political forces that were behind the Government’s dismissal, in a crucial year for Moldova’s European integration, will resort to illegal pressure methods and to the institution of criminal cases by order,” it is said in the statement. The PLDM vehemently condemns what it calls anti-Democratic deviations and expresses its lack of confidence in the actions of the National Anticorruption Center that became an instrument of political blackmail and a source of wrongdoings. The PLDM announces that the created situation will be discussed in the March 10 meeting of the party’s National Political Council and its position and subsequent actions will be made public later. The media have reported that the deputy secretary general of the Government’s Chancellery Eduard Banariuc is investigated in a case that involves other persons close to the PLDM leader Vlad Filat. Sources in the National Anticorruption Center confirmed that this case is being examined.
