PLDM calls on forces of the right to establish pro-European political partnership

The Liberal Democratic Party of Moldova (PLDM) calls upon all the pro-European opposition forces of the right to establish a pro-European political partnership. If this chance is missed, the Republic of Moldova will be irremediably turned into the poorest country in Europe with a depopulated area, into a regional money laundering center and a problem at the border with the EU, stated the chairman of the PLDM Viorel Cibotaru.

In a news conference at IPN, Viorel Cibotaru said the October 3 debates held in the European Parliament clearly showed that the Socialist-Democratic government leads Moldova to the dark and isolated past and the most prominent accomplishments of the period after 2009, such as the signing of the Association Agreement and the liberalization of the visa regime, are brought into question by the camouflaged PDM-PSRM alliance. “The plans of this alliance are actually to transform Moldova into an authoritarian fief and this leads to the country’s isolation at international level and its stripping of development resources, image and perspective,” stated the Liberal-Democratic leader.

He also said that despite the statements about the pro-European course and the wish to form a post-electoral coalition with the pro-European parties of the right, the PDM continues to take action to systemically destroy the opposition parties, to undermine the state institutions and local authorities by cleaning the staff and corrupting mayors and local councilors of the PLDM and other opposition parties.

PLDM deputy chairman Tudor Deliu, who heads the parliamentary group of the Lib-Dems, said the quality of justice is one of the most serious problems faced by Moldova. The government uses justice for personal purposes and this selectively solves cases. Therefore, in the current session of Parliament the Lib-Dems will assess the activity of the law enforcement agencies and, in concert with civil society, will formulate appraisals and proposals for remedying the situation. “As the country faces such social problems as migration and low salaries, the PLDM will also submit legislative proposals aimed at ensuring society equity in Moldova and will center on the problems faced by the diaspora in the context of the electoral system change,” stated Tudor Deliu.

Another deputy chairman of the party, Alexandru Bujorean, said the Moldovans are witnessing an equally dangerous and calculated destructive process directed by political leaders who do not aim to improve the living conditions in Moldova. “Their goal is to conserve their power and extend it nationwide and to substitute the state, local or national interests with the own interests,” he noted.

Anastasia Cojocari, of the Liberal-Democratic youth organization, called on the young people to help built a pro-European Moldova. “We, the young people, are forced to leave our families, spouses and children and go abroad to look for a job somewhere among foreigners. We should create a healthier platform for the young people who really want a future at home,” she said.

As to the upcoming parliamentary elections, the representatives of the PLDM said they haven’t yet decided if the party will take part in these independently or as part of an electoral bloc.
