PLDM and PDM focused on four presidential candidates
The Liberal Democratic Party of Moldova (PLDM) and the Democratic Party of Moldova (PDM) are examining four candidates for the presidency, the Liberal-Democratic leader Vlad Filat announced in the program “Fabrika” on Publika TV channel, Info-Prim Neo reports.
”We understood that there are people in Moldova who have dignity and a deep feeling of responsibility. We agreed that this person should not be politically affiliated. We will continue the discussions and will put forward a candidate for the post of President. We must find a candidate who will secure the necessary 62 votes,” said Vlad Filat.
He also said that the Liberal Party’s position not to field a candidate for the presidency is not right. “As to the Liberal Party, we do not intend to convince somebody. The colleagues from this party said that if we propose a common candidate, they will vote in favor. I hope they were sincere, but we will see the deeds,” stated the Liberal-Democratic leader.
He stressed that the date of the presidential elections should be fixed in the Parliament’s sittings of February 23 or 24. According to him, the date of March 15 suggested by the chairman of the PDM Marian Lupu is a suitable one.
