The Liberal Democratic Party (PLDM) calls on all the politicians and opinion leaders to show responsibility and devotion to the country. It says it’s time for all the political parties to pledge publicly to respect and ensure the country’s sovereignty and independence. The call was made by the leader of the PLDM Vlad Filat in a press briefing, IPN reports.
“In only several months, we will complete the current mandate that is difficult and very responsible not only for the PLDM, but also for all the parties that assumed governance. Moldova is today much freer and known in the world than in the past. Europe opened its doors to our citizens. In several weeks, we will sign the Association Agreement and will obtain a clear European integration prospect. After the proclamation of independence, this is the most important event in our history,” said the politician.
Vlad Filat added that everyone can contribute to building the country’s future. “By joint efforts, we can make sure that the country’s freedom will not be stolen. The flying bird is the symbol of freedom and nobody saw a bird flying back. We will become truly free when the European integration process becomes irreversible,” he stated.
According to the leader of the PLDM, last November, when Moldova initialed the Association Agreement in Vilnius, it was hard to imagine what events will follow in Ukraine. “Today the developments shake the foundations of peace and security in the region and in the world. We continue to believe that any problem should be solved by dialogue. The situation in Ukraine generates challenges to the stability in Moldova,” said Vlad Filat.
He noted that particular political forces are trying to aggravate the situation in the country, but it’s cynical to look for political profit when the security of the own people is in danger. The PLDM warns that such behavior can have serious consequences.
Vlad Filat also said that now the political class has the duty to be united and to show maturity and vigilance, underlining that any competition is natural, but should be within the law.
