PLDM accuses, PCRM denies
The principles of free and fair elections has been breached in the April 5 parliamentary elections, as the electoral participants did not enjoy equal access to media, the Liberal Democratic Party (PLDM) accuses in a report on the April poll, which was presented on July 24 on the Great National Assembly Square in Chisinau, Info-Prim Neo reports.
Meanwhile, the Communists Party (PCRM), mostly criticised in the report, declines the accusations and says that the PLDM breaches the electoral law, and has repeatedly been warned by the Central Election Commission (CEC).
The PLDM’s report claims that the Communist rule abusively used administrative resources and put pressure on electoral contestants and voters.
„We publicly present faked signatures of people who did not vote. In addition, we did not enjoy equal access to media, while the public stations, with national coverage, favored the ruling party,” stated Mihai Godea, the first deputy president of the PLDM.
When asked by Info-Prim Neo, the PCRM’s representative Sergiu Sarbu has categorically rejected the charges. He says the PLDM makes and says but inventions.
„The PLDM is the one which has breached art. 7 of the CEC’s Regulation on the elections, telling people to hide passports and not to vote for the PCRM. The media favored the PLDM in the electoral race, the evidence beeing the complaint and 5 warnings from the CEC,” Sergiu Sarbu specified.
The PLDM tried to present a similar report on July 18 and 19 in Chisinau’s downtown but the car with the necessary materials was vandalized by 7 unidentified men who ran away.
