PLDM about Stirbate’s leaving: Decision forms part of campaign to denigrate PLDM

The Liberal Democratic Party (PLDM) considers MP Petru Stirbate’s decision to leave the Liberal-Democratic parliamentary group forms part of a campaign to denigrate the party that is orchestrated both from inside and outside the country with the aim of weakening the ruling alliance and of hampering Moldova’s European course, IPN reports.

“Such a step, taken in a sensitive geopolitical context, generates a question – whose interests are served by such a decision? The decision was taken amid the latest warnings, including from the foreign partners, about the attempts to stop the European integration course. That’s why such a decision is not at all accidental especially because it was already made public earlier by opponents of the European course,” the PLDM says in a press release.

“We consider it is the moral duty of Petru Stirbate to vacate the seat of MP that he won with the general support of the members and bodies of the PLDM.”

On September 17, Liberal-Democratic MP Petru Stirbate announced that he leaves the faction and will serve as an independent lawmaker.
