Platform “Dignity and Truth” reacts to searches performed at protesters’ homes

Members of the Civic Platform “Dignity and Truth” reacted to the searches carried out by the police at the homes of four of the persons who took part in the April 24 protest on May 5. According to them, these are abusive actions by the police, taken by order of the minister of the interior, who obeys the first deputy chairman of the Democratic Party Vlad Plahotniuc. The leaders of the Platform demand to immediately set free those who were arrested and to stop intimidating and terrifying protesters, IPN reports.

In a press release, members of the Platform say the police actions during the Bright Week are not accidental. These are taken in a context when the people are preoccupied with the preparations for Low Sunday.

Protesters’ leaders call on the people not to yield to intimidation and to overcome fear. They note that they will provide legal aid to any protester who will need it.

The Platform calls upon the U.S. Embassy in Moldova and the EU Delegation to Chisinau to intervene by diplomatic ways in the created situation. The leaders of the Platform announce that the protests will be resumed in the immediate future.
