The Civic Platform “Dignity and Truth” (DA) said the protest that was scheduled to take place in the Great National Assembly Square of Chisinau on August 27 was put off to September 6. In a news conference on July 21, representatives of the platform said their plans were thwarted by the authorities, which argued that events dedicated to the Independence Day will be staged in the same place on August 27, IPN reports.
“The Civic Platform “Dignity and Truth” calls on everyone not to yield to the provocations mounted by the corrupt oligarchic clans. The first bills with exorbitant prices increased following the stealing of the US$1 billion must be accompanied by our united and powerful response that can be only in the form a civic protest for freeing the country from the captivity of the ruling clans,” said Andrei Nastase, one of the members of the initiative group.
The members of the platform harshly criticized the recent decision to increase the electricity and gas tariffs. Valentin Dolganiuc said the current energy system is a ‘criminal’ one. During 25 years, the schemes to steal from this system haven’t been removed. “Besides the banking system, the energy system is another heavy burden on Moldova. We will start to feel the effects of the tariff rises in a month, when we receive the bills,” he stated.
Initiative group member Igor Botan said those who now say that they do us a good thing by forming the third alliance for European integration lied to us during six years. “They should think well if this government will be legitimate. Nothing of what they promised was delivered. What kind of coalition can they form?” he asked rhetorically. He noted that the September 6 protest is designed to mobilize and unite society for ousting the ruling mafia clans from power.
The Civic Platform “Dignity and Truth” so far has staged three large-scale protests that involved tens of thousands of people, on April 5, May 3 and June 7.
