The municipality of Chisinau started planting plane trees on 31 August 1989 Street. In total, 116 trees with a height of 3 to 3.5 meters will be planted along the street, IPN reports.

The trees are planted to ensure the continuity of flora in the street area and to maintain the status of “green corridor”, said the Chisinau City Hall.

The initiative is part of Package II of the project “Rehabilitation of central streets and modernization of public lighting of the center of Chisinau municipality”, which is financed by the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development and the European Investment Bank.

Earlier, within the same project, 42 trees were planted on Alexandru cel Bun St and Tighina St.
