Plan to remove non-tariff barriers to trade approved
The Government approved the plan of action for removing the non-tariff barriers to trade. Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Economy Valeriu Lazar said the customs administration will be adjusted to the best international practices, Info-Prim Neo reports.
It is planned to abandon the indicative price in customs and to stop levying other taxes than the ordinary customs duties. The pollution tax paid on the import of Tetra Pak products will be annulled.
“The laying down of clear game rules for importers and exporters will allow Moldova to become a reliable commercial partner. We will be able to seek concessions in the negotiations on the creation of the Deep and Comprehensive Free Trade Area with the EU, which will be opened soon,” said Valeriu Lazar.
He reiterated that Moldova climbed 18 spots in the Doing Business 2012 rankings, but there are three areas where Moldova lags behind, which are related directly to the problems faced by the exporters and importers in the international trade.
The plan of action was worked out in order to fulfill Moldova’s obligations as a fully-fledged member of the World Trade Organization.
