Plan to adjust 13 national economy sectors to communitarian acquis

The Government approved the plan of action for implementing the recommendations of the European Commission concerning the creation of a deep and comprehensive free trade area between Moldova and the EU. Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Economy Valeriu Lazar said the deep and comprehensive free trade area will be set up under the Association Agreement between Moldova and the EU that has been negotiated since January 14, Info-Prim Neo reports. A free trade area implies the liberalization of trade, free movement of the labor force and cooperation with the EU in obtaining Moldova's institutional convergence. The liberalization of trade with the EU will lead to the boosting of the foreign investors' confidence in Moldova's economy, said Lazar. The European Commission formulated recommendations for approximating and adjusting 13 sectors of the national economy to the communitarian acquis, after an assessment mission had worked in Chisinau during May 31- June 2. On the basis of these recommendations, the Ministry of Economy, in concert with other ministries and institutions, drew up the plan of action for implementing them. “Given that Moldova aims to become part of the EU, these recommendations should be fulfilled, regardless of the composition of the future government,” said Valeriu Lazar. The Deputy Prime Minister voiced hope that the deep and comprehensive free trade area will be created by 2015, when the Autonomous Trade Preferences granted to Moldova by the EU expire.
