Plan of Action proves EU's commitment to cooperate with Moldova

Eugen Caras, deputy head of the Foreign Ministry's European Integration Department, said the EU-Moldova Plan of Action on the Liberalization of the Visa Regime confirms the European Union's readiness to continue cooperating with Moldova and supporting it in the implementation of reforms and shows that the EU recognized the steps taken by the authorities so far, Info-Prim Neo reports. In a meeting of the Press Club organized by the Foreign Policy Association (FPA), Eugen Caras said the Moldovan authorities planned to take measures in four areas, namely: security of documents, including biometry; migration, including readmission; public order and security; foreign relations, observance of human rights, and fulfillment of the commitments made by Moldova. “We will have to do our homework. As to border management and control and migration management, these are our responsibilities and all the people, the Government, the Parliament and civil society should engage in these processes,” said Eugen Caras. According to Caras, the Plan of Action will be implemented on the basis of a national plan that will contain all the steps that Moldova will take in different fields. “The given document will be adopted by the Government. It will be a public document and civil society will enjoy favorable and transparent conditions for monitoring this process,” he stated. The meetings of the FPA's Press Club are organized with support from the German foundation Ebert Stiftung.
