Plan of action for supporting Moldovan migrants who return home

The Moldovans who work abroad and want to return home will benefit from different services in the reintegration process, IPN reports, quoting the 2014-2016 plan of action for supporting them, which was approved by the Government.

Statistics show that 330,000 people had been temporarily abroad in 2005-2012. 70% of them were from rural areas. 59% expressed their intention to return home.

In order to facilitate their return and to develop the economic potential of the migrants, there will be created a database about migrants, which will be permanently updated.

Minister of Labor, Social Protection and Family Valentina Buliga said there will be created 35 consultancy offices and ten mobile teams on migration and reintegration. They will work at the local employment agencies and will deal with migrants’ requests, identifying the assistance that they need.

“Surveys show that among the services in which those who return home are interested are those concerning employment (35%), health (32%), and communication (32%). About 30% of the migrants would like to take part in the implementation of infrastructure projects at the place of birth in concert with the local public authorities, while 41% intend to start their own business,” said Valentina Buliga.

A sum of 125 million lei is needed for implementing the plan of action. The money will be allocated from the budget and from the donations of the International Organization for Migration and other foreign partners.
