The Cabinet approved the plan of action for integrating foreigners for 2018, IPN reports. According to the informative note to the document, the planned measures will ensure the uniform implementation of the legislation on the integration of foreigners all over Moldova. Special attention is devoted to the involvement of the local public authorities and civil society in the process.
According to the Ministry of the Interior, 18 900 foreigners had the right to stay in Moldova on June 30, 2017. Of these, 8 700 had the right to stay permanently, 1 067 to work, while 2 688 to study. The right to stay in Moldova on the same date was enjoyed by 588 investors.
On September 30, 2017 the asylum system included 477 persons, 153 of whom were refugees. Most of these were from Ukraine, Afghanistan and Syria.
