Parliament will adopt a plan of action for adjusting the national legislation to the Community acquis and will designate the institutions responsible for implementing the harmonized legislation, Speaker Andrian Candu said in a meeting with MEP Andi Cristea, who is the co-chairman of the Parliamentary Committee for Association between Moldova and the EU, and MEP Michal Boni, who is the deputy chairman of the Committee, IPN reports.
According to the Parliament’s press service, Andrian Candu asked for the European Parliament’s assistance in completing the process of ratifying the Association Agreement by all the EU member states. He reasserted the Moldovan authorities’ commitment to implement the reform agenda in the European integration process and announced that the legislative body is examining the possibility of identifying a nationwide mechanism for interaction between the authorities for implementing the Association Agreement.
The MEPs encouraged the Moldovan authorities to continue implementing the assumed reforms and to obtain concrete results. “We are Moldova’s correct advocates in the European Parliament and will make all the necessary approaches for facilitating Moldova’s European road, especially at parliamentary level,” said Andi Cristea.
The European officials also had a meeting with Prime Minister Chiril Gaburici. Andi Cristea said Moldova is considered the most advanced state within the Eastern Partnership as regards its connection with the EU. But the Moldovan authorities must continue the democratic changes so as to ensure the country’s prosperous future.
Speaking about the effort made to implement reforms, Chiril Gaburici said the executive is taking steps to improve the business climate, to attract investments and to extend the export markets. Another important task of the Government is to adjust the national legal and institutional framework to the European standards.
MEPs Andi Cristea and Michal Boni are paying a fact-finding visit to Moldova on April 7-9.
