The process of building or renovating head offices for the 15 ordinary courts of law founded as a result of the reformation of the judicial system will consist of four stages that will last for ten years. The plan was adopted by Parliament on March 3, IPN reports.
At the first stage, in 2017, there will be finished the construction of the building of Ungheni Court, which merged with the Nisporeni Court. The construction works started in 2014. The Palace of Justice in Ungheni will have six floors and a total area of 4,400 square meters. There will also be identified the plots were to erect other courts of law. A working group will be set up to monitor the building and renovation process.
At the second stage, in 2018-2021, buildings will be constructed for the Edinet, Orhei, Hancesti, Causeni, Cahul and Chisinau Courts. At the third stage, in 2021-2023, works will be carried out on the buildings of the Courts of Balti, Soroca, Straseni, Drochia, and Comrat, while at the last stage, in 2024-2027, courts of law will be built in Anenii Noi, Criuleni, and Cimislia.
Owing to the insufficiency of courtrooms at present, a lot of hearings take place in judges’ offices. This makes the use of equipment for recording hearings impossible as these can be placed in courtrooms only. The courts of law also do not have enough waiting halls, signs, elevators, sanitary facilities, areas for examining documents, canteens, etc.
