First Deputy Speaker Vlad Plahotniuc was not put on the wanted list abroad and is not involved in trials. Vlad Plahotniuc’s official representative, lawyer Vitalie Nagacevschi and two lawyers from Cyprus and the United States Thursday presented a set of official documents proving this in a news conference on December 13, Info-Prim Neo reports. Cypriot lawyer Yorgos Trillidis said that at the start of July, Vlad Plahotniuc submitted an application, asking determining if lawsuits that involved him were filed in Cyprus. The answer was that he was never criminally prosecuted in Cyprus and was never cited by the authorities, directly or indirectly, to give testimony or to answer certain questions. The U.S. lawyer Val Gurvits said the investigations showed that Vlad Plahotniuc was not involved in trials. “His name never appeared in a hearing. He was not announced wanted through Interpol channels,” he stated. Vitalie Nagacevschi said that all the accusations that appeared in the Moldovan press, according to which Vlad Plahotniuc was heard by the Supreme Court of London as regards the financial-banking system of Moldova, are invented. “Not simply Vlad Plahotniuc, but the First Deputy Head of Parliament is attacked. Moldova’s image is also affected to a certain extent,” said the lawyer. The lawyers also denied the assertions concerning Vlad Plahotniuc’s double identity. They said the politician has passports only on the name of Vlad Plahotniuc, while the biometric data used in the EU, the U.S. and the UK exclude the possibility of having several identities. According to Vitalie Nagacevschi, Vlad Plahotniuc will sue Liberal-Democratic MP Ion Butmalai and several Communist lawmakers who made the defamatory accusations. They will ask for damages of €3,000 from every person. The politician said that he will donate this money for charity. The press reported earlier that Vlad Plahotniuc was wanted by the Interpol and was involved in criminal cases opened in Cyprus, Romania, and the UK.
