Plahotniuc goes up, Ghimpu slips in rankings of most influential politicians

First Deputy Speaker, Democratic MP VladPlahotniuc climbed four spots in the November rankings of the most influential politicians from a month before. The Liberal leader MihaiGhimpu slipped two spots. Experts of the Institute for Political Consultancy and Analysis “Politicon”, who compile the rankings every month, consider that MihaiGhimpu’s fall is due to the fact that he more often complains about the behavior of his colleagues from the ruling alliance because this becomes irritating, Info-PrimNeo reports. “Politicon” deputy head IonTabarta told a news conference that the first ten positions in the rankings are taken by the same politicians as in October, but their positions fluctuated. Prime Minister VladFilat has headed the rankings for eleven months. Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister IurieLeanca comes second, while President NicolaeTimofti ranked third. The fourth position is taken by Mayor General of Chisinau DorinChirtoaca. Speaker MarianLupu climbed one spot from October to the fifth.VladPlahotniuc went up to the sixth spot from the tenth. He is followed by MihaiGhimpu and the Communist leader Vladimir Voronin. Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Economy ValeriuLazar ranked ninth, while Minister of the Interior DorinRecean comes tenth, down three spots. “Politicon” head Anatol Taranu said the rankings of the top ten politicians show that the political life in Moldova is stable and the twists are insignificant and cannot change the situation. As to the position of President NicolaeTimofti, he stated that it is a good position, but the head of state can have a better rating if he manages to mediate the relations between the opposition and the parliamentary majority. Speaking about MihaiGhimpu’s fall, Anatol Taranu said the fact that the politician more often grumbles about the behavior of his alliance colleagues becomes annoying as the people expect other types of reaction from him. VladPlahotniuc went up owing to the visits that he paid abroad recently and to the fact that he allegedly owns a media holding, but his negative rating is also a kind of promotion. The rankings were produced with the assistance of 38 experts who assessed the politicians’ influence on the taken decisions, their presence in the mass media, public popularity and political prospects.
