Placement center for orphan girls opened in Chisinau

Ten girls will benefit from free accommodation during three years at a Placement Center founded by the Foundation “Regina Pacis”, IPN reports.

The project Supported Housing “In Cammino” is aimed at providing girls who remained without parental care and come from orphanages and temporary placement centers with a place to stay so as to enable them to continue their studies and to find in parallel a job. The goal of the project is to contribute to the development of the abilities and skills needed to lead an independent life. This will facilitate the socioeconomic and professional integration of the girls.

“At the initial stage, the center will accommodate ten persons. During three years, the girls will benefit from care and placement and, if they need, from meals, partially. There are no such centers, intended only for girls, in Moldova. When they leave the orphanage, where they can stay only up to the age of 18, the girls will have a place to stay for three years so as to build a career. The living conditions are good. I think many of us do not have such conditions at home,” said Inga Platon, manager of the Family Consultancy Center “Regina Pacis”.

The Supported Housing is a new service for Moldova. “In Europe, this service is financed by the state, but in our country not even the standards were set. This is a pilot project and if is implemented successfully, more assisted living facilities will be created for other categories of people,” stated Inga Platon.

The project Supported Housing “In Cammino” is implemented by the Foundation “Regina Pacis” with the financial support of the German association RENOVABIS.
