PL will reelect its administration next May

The Liberal Party (PL) will hold its National Congress on May 25, 2014. Such a decision was taken in the November 16 meeting of the party’s National Council.

PL deputy chairman, MP Valeriu Munteanu has told IPN that the party’s administration – the chairman and deputy chairmen – will be reelected at the congress. There will be also discussed the party’s statutes.

After the dismemberment of the Alliance for European Integration and the dismissal of the Filat Government, the Liberal Party split. A part of the Liberals, who included lawmakers and ministers, asked that the party become involved in the negotiations on the formation of a new government coalition and that Dorin Chirtoaca take over the party from Mihai Ghimpu. They were later excluded from the party and thus they created their own party - the Liberal Reforming Party.
