The Liberal Party on April 29 will submit an application to the Constitutional Court (CC) and ask it that it pronounces on the constitutionality of an article from the decision concerning the dismissal of Head of Parliament Marian Lupu. To be exact, the Liberals consider that the provisions saying the Deputy Speaker has the same powers as the Speaker in his absence are unconstitutional, IPN reports.

The Liberal Party head Mihai Ghimp believes that the Liberal Democratic Party, especially the party’s chairman Vlad Filat, usurp the state power. “From the pro-European government program, we got to usurpation. We decided to inform the European partners who supported us in the democratization. I’m ready to go till the end. We will definitely find justice and afterward we will ask the Prosecutor General’s Office to start criminal cases against those who usurp the power,” stated Mihai Ghimpu.

He also said it is regrettable that President Nicolae Timofti contributed to the usurpation of the state power and promulgate the bill that provides for the institution of the interim post of Head of Parliament. Mihai Ghimpu said that all the laws adopted after the dismissal of Marian Lupu are illegal.

The same day, the Liberal Democratic Party of Moldova sent a communiqué, saying the Liberal Party continues the campaign aimed at making the political situation in Moldova tense. “It is absolutely evident that the Liberals aim to create full chaos so as to compromise any chance of returning to normality and prevent Moldova from following the path to democratization and European integration,” reads the communiqué. The party also says that it will use all the democratic and legal instruments available to hamper the attempts to continue to destabilize the political situation and to ensure Moldova’s return to normality.
