PL wants Moldovans living abroad to be able to work in Moldovan embassies
Liberal MPs proposed that Moldovan citizens settled in countries where Moldova has permanent diplomatic missions could be hired as non-diplomatic functionaries or as technical and administrative staff or service people, Info-Prim Neo reports.
The authors of the legislative initiative want staff members who don’t hold diplomatic functions to be hired on the basis of a contest. Only members of the Moldovan diaspora, settled permanently in the country where the diplomatic mission is located, will be allowed to participate in the contest. The candidates must have higher education (a bachelor’s or a master’s degree), must know the official language of Moldova and that of the country where the diplomatic mission is located.
The Liberals also propose that the person occupying a diplomatic position should hold a master’s degree instead of only a bachelor’s degree, as stipulated by the current law. According to authors, the legislative initiative will improve the efficiency of Moldova’s diplomatic missions abroad.
Currently, the technical-administrative staff of Moldova’s diplomatic missions is recruited from among the Moldovans residing in Moldova. Their wages, as well as the additional expenses during their employment such as accommodation, transport, medical insurance, etc., including for the members of their families, will be paid from the state budget.
