The Liberal Party (PL) said it will compete in the snap parliamentary elections of July 11 together with the Alliance for the Union of Romanians (AUR), which was registered in Chisinau too. “The union is the fundamental objective we have to achieve. We have the union in Romania’s Parliament through AUR. Let’s bring the union to the Republic’s Parliament through us all, under the emblem of AUR”, PL leader Dorin Chirtoacă stated in a news conference, being quoted by IPN.
Dorin Chirtoacă noted the PL continues to strengthen the unionist current so as to offer a definite and clear voting option on July 11. They will combine forces with AUR, which achieved a very good result in the parliamentary elections over the Prut. “Keeping our Liberal identity as part of the Liberal European family ALDE, but primarily keeping the pro-Romanian course, we, the members of the Liberal Party, decided to run in the July 11 elections on the list of AUR so that we together break the division ice and build the union. The PL will present its candidates for the list and we will offer the common head offices, units of transport, logistics and human resources to the staff for our campaign,” stated Dorin Chirtoacă.
AUR Moldova president Vlad Biletski said they are also waiting for the National Unity Party to join in. The AUR undertakes publicly to offer the first places on its list to the representatives of the PUN. The election campaign is expected to be stiff. Even if the struggle in Chisinau is expected to be between the East and the West, the election campaign will be about dignity and Romanian honesty, historical and geographical truth, wellbeing and concrete deeds, not statements. They are a pro-European, pro-NATO party and are the only political force that is able to undertake not to form an alliance with Russian parties ever.
Attending the conference, AUR co-president Claudiu Târziu, senator who heads the Commission for Romanians Everyone in the Senate of Romania, said AUR should bring together all the healthy Romanian forces as these are not enough now for the set objective. “All those who are able to fight for this ideal are asked to join in and not because we are looking with superiority of those who achieved results in Bucharest, not because we believe we are better among the Romanians, not because we realized the effort and sacrifice made by the unionists her, but because what we managed to achieve in Romania that is not yet reunified can be repeated here,” stated Claudiu Târziu.
Recently, the Save Bessarabia Union announced its decision to run in the upcoming snap elections alongside AUR and to event join the AUR and be absorbed by this.
