The Liberal Party (PL) submitted a legislative initiative whereby it suggests raising the value of international postal packages that are exempted from import duties from €200 to €500, IPN reports.

Bill author Valeriu Munteanu explained that the number of postal packages coming from the Moldovans who are abroad is very high. The move is aimed at discouraging the illegal sending of goods from aboard and at contributing to the development of the national postal services and the better regulation of the international freights.

The measure applies only to the goods of personal use and does not affect the commercial relations of legal entities.
