PL seeks two separate history courses

The Liberal Party doesn’t agree with the Ministry of Education, which removed the History of Romanians from the school curriculum by integrating it into a general history course, reads a PL press release, quoted by Info-Prim Neo. The Liberal Party thinks the Ministry of Education must urgently revise the program of study and restore the two courses: History of Romanians and History of the World. According to PL, both courses should be mandatory, with different marks and exams. “The tragic experience of the Moldovan people, who suffered a disastrous process of denationalization during the Soviet era, and then the anti-Romanian policy of the Communist dictatorship between 2001 and 2009, impose the need to unequivocally state the truth about our national identity, history, language and culture”, read the press release. The Liberal Party pleads for the restoration of two different courses, History of Romanians and History of the World, as it was before 2001. According to the Liberals, this is the only way to achieve the “victory of truth” after a decade of struggle by intellectuals and youth. “This is the only way to honor the memory and sacrifice of our ancestors and to do justice to the youth who often put their lives at stake to oppose the falsification of our history and national identity”, say the Liberals. The current History course includes 50% history of the world, 45% history of Romanians and 5% local or regional history.
