The Liberal Party (PL) condemns the dissemination of lies in the public sphere with the aim of manipulating the voters. In a press release, the party says the non-registration of Dorin Chirtoaca as a participant in the November 19 referendum is the direct responsibility of the Party of Socialists and the functionaries that this delegated to serve on the Chisinau District Electoral Council, who have biased and anti-Chirtoaca opinions, IPN reports.

As to the Socialist councilor Ion Ceban’s assertion that the non-admission of Dorin Chirtoaca to the campaign to promote the November 19 referendum pursues the goal of victimizing the mayor general, the PL said Dorin Chirtoaca made everything possible to be registered as a participant in the referendum, but the Chisinau District Electoral Council rejected his application.

According to the Liberal Party, of the ten members of the Chisinau District Electoral Council, four represent the Party of Socialists and two the Party of Communists and namely these six members voted against the registration of Dorin Chirtoaca.

On October 26, Socialist councilor on the Chisinau Municipal Council Ion Ceban said the boycott announced by a number of political parties over the referendum to remove Dorin Chirtoaca from the mayoralty of Chisinau is a show orchestrated by the current government and the Liberal Party with the aim of protecting the suspended mayor.

According to the Party of Socialists, the essence of this show resides in the non-admission of Dorin Chirtoaca to the campaign to promote the November 19 referendum. Two goals are pursued this way – to victimize Dorin Chirtoaca in the hope that the residents of Chisinau will pity him again and will make common cause with him and to protect Dorin Chirtoaca from the debates that will be held during the campaign as these would have repeatedly revealed his incompetence and the fact that he practically destroyed Chisinau during ten years.
