PL announces conditions in which it will form coalition with PLDM and PDM

The Liberal Party (PL) will take part in governance, alongside the Liberal Democratic Party (PLDM) and the Democratic Party (PDM), if the conditions and compromise solutions reached in the presence of the European partners are respected. The decision was taken in the PL’s National Council by a unanimous vote, IPN reports.

According to a communique of the PL, the first compromise is for the three parties to constitute a commission that, within three months, would propose a solution for solving the problem of election of Moldova’s President. Another agreement reached with the European partners is for the PLDM to field the candidate for premiership, for the PDM to propose the candidate for Head of Parliament, while for the PL to manage the ministries that it controlled before the dismemberment of the government coalition, in May 2013.

The third agreement is to name a nonpolitical person designated in consultation with the European Commission as prosecutor general. This would be a signal for Brussels that the new Government of Moldova is ready to start the so necessary reformation process.

Last Friday, the PLDM and PDM signed an agreement on the formation of the Alliance for a European Moldova. The three pro-European parties could not reach a consensus after holding negotiations in trilateral format during almost two months.
