After half a year from the the incident at a peacekeeping post on the Nistru when a Russian peacekeeper gunned down a local young man, investigations are at a standstill. Alexandru Postica, the lawyer of Vadim Pisari's family, says that if no progress is made on the case in the next three or four months, it will be taken to the European Court of Human Rights. Alexandru Postica says that the Russian authorities failed to submit the weapon with which the 18-year-old was killed, and for this reason the Moldovan authorities couldn't carry out ballistic tests. Moreover, says the lawyer, the perpetrator is still wanted and no international commission has been created to investigate the case. Alexandru Postica added that the Vadim Pisari's family submitted numerous petitions to the Russian prosecution service, requesting a proper investigation, but all the petitions remained unanswered. “We notified the Russian authorities of the actions undertaken by the Moldovan Prosecutor General's Office, we used all the available means and remedies. If the requests formulated in our petitions to the Russian prosecution service are not satisfied, we can say with certitude that the case will remain unresolved”. Alexandru Postica noted that no actions have been undertaken on the case for three months now. “If no progress is made within reasonable time, we can complain of an excessive delay in proceedings and take the case to the ECHR”. However, Prosecutor Ion Dediu, the head of the PGO department responsible for crimes committed in the armed forces, claims that the case is being properly handled and that an international commission has been formed. He refrained from providing any further information so as not to jeopardize the integrity of the investigation. Vadim Pisari was shot dead on January 1 as he was trying to drive through peacekeeping post no.9 and didn't stop when summoned to do so. In reaction, locals repeatedly organized protests demanding the removal of post no.9, but without any success.
