Photo exhibition on Portugal, country of sunrise

Landscapes and people from Portugal are presented in an exhibition of 40 photos taken by Moldova’s former Ambassador to Portugal Valeriu Turea, who now heads the Bureau for Diaspora Relations. “Portugal, the country of sunrise” is the title of the exhibition that was mounted at the National Museum of History on July 19.

Valeriu Turea said that this exhibition represents eulogy to Portugal. The list of political priorities of this country does not include the Republic of Moldova, but the Moldovans are definitely on its list of affective priorities. In Portugal, there is an exceptional community of Moldovans and a possible future exhibition will be entitled “Famous Moldovans in Portugal”.

Speaking about the country where he represented Moldova, the ex-ambassador said that Portugal is a fascinating country not only because of its landscapes and places, but especially because of its people. Even the Portuguese language is similar to Romanian, or, more exactly, to the language used in some Moldovan settlements.

Attending the event, Anatol Vangheli, Secretary General of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and European Integration, said that Ambassador Valeriu Turea always had a spirit of initiative and this exhibition of photographs confirms this. He voiced hope that other ambassadors will borrow the idea of presenting the countries where there are Moldovans. “Mister Ambassador, you contributed to the improvement of the relations between the two states,” he said.

The exhibit will continue until July 25.
