PGO says prosecutor Iurie Garaba was attacked

The Prosecutor General’s Office (PGO) admits that the chairman of the Supreme Council of Prosecutors Iurie Garaba was involved in a road accident, but specifies that he was attacked by the other driver and for this reason that man was arrested. The reaction comes after politician Sergiu Mocanu made this case public, saying the law enforcement bodies are trying to hide this accident, IPN reports.

According to a communiqué from the PGO, on July 30 Gheorghe Munteanu, moving along Calea Iesilor St by his car, struck the personal car of Iurie Garaba, where there were the members of his family.

Gheorghe Munteanu insulted and ill-treated Iurie Garaba, causing him bodily injuries. Representatives of the police went to the scene and documented the road accident, reporting afterward the case of maltreatment of citizen Garaba, who needed medical care.

A medical-legal examination will be performed in the case of the suspect and the injured side. The driver was put under arrest for 72 hours so that he could not influence the statements of the witnesses who were with him in the same car.
