The Prosecutor General’s Office (PGO) requested the responsible authorities of Turkey to extradite the former leader of the Democratic Party Vlad Plahotniuc for being held accountable in Moldova. Such a request was made by Prosecutor General Alexandr Stoianoglo on September 29, IPN reports.
The PGO noted the action was taken following an official notification of the fact that Vlad Plahotniuc entered Turkey on September 10 and is still there.
The whole set of required documents and materials were already sent to the Turkish authorities, the extradition request being based on the European Convention on Extradition signed in Paris on December 13, 1957.
Vlad Plahotniuc was put on the wanted list after prosecutors changed him on three counts –creation and management of a criminal organization, swindle and money laundering in considerable amounts.
In June, the PGO requested the authorities of the US to extradite the ex-leader of the PDM after receiving conformation of the fact that this was in the United States.
