PG to probe assassination attempt on Voronin
The Prosecutor General's Office (PG) will verify the statements made by the former head of the Information and Security Service Artur Reshetnikov, according to which an attempt was made on the former President Vladimir Voronin's life in April 2009, Info-Prim Neo reports.
The PG launched an inquiry after Artur Reshetnikov told the reporters on February 3 that the April 2009 events constituted an attempted coup and attempt to assassinate former President Vladimir Voronin and force the police to react by using firearms. Reshetnikov made the statements after he was questioned by prosecutors as a witness in the case opened over the April events.
The Prosecutor General's Office says it has not been informed about a possible attempt on Vladimir Voronin's life by the Information and Security Service so far.
The prosecutors will verify Artur Reshetnikov's assertions and will make a decision in accordance with the law.
