PG to investigate destruction of Security and Information Service files

Acting President Mihai Ghimpu instructed the Prosecutor General's Office (PG) of Moldova to investigate the destruction of files from the archive of the Security and Information Service after 1990, Info-Prim Neo reports. “I furnished Mihai Ghimpu with proofs and figures showing that files had been destroyed after 1990,” said the secretary of the commission for studying the totalitarian Communist regime in Moldova Mihai Tasca. The historian told Info-Prim Neo that on Wednesday morning he will go to the PG to present the evidence he collected over this case. Deputy Prosecutor General Igor Serbinov said all the proofs will be verified and the people will be informed about the results. According to members of the commission for studying the totalitarian Communist regime, dozens of files had been destroyed from the archive of the Security and Information Service after 1990. No files disappeared after 1996, but the historians established that another five files were destroyed in 2007.
