The Green Ecologist Party of Moldova (PEVM) considers the decision of the three parties – “Platform Dignity and Truth” (PPDA), “Action and Solidarity” (PAS) and Liberal Democratic Party (PLDM) – to have a common candidate in the October 30 presidential elections is a crucial one for strengthening the political forces of the center-right and for uniting the pro-European and unionist voters who are now fragmented, IPN reports, quoting a press release of the PEVM signed by the party’s leader Anatolie Prohnitski.
“The ecologists of Moldova, who are an integral part of the family of the green European parties, appreciate the gesture and maturity of the political decision of the parties PPDA, PAS and PLDM and welcome their proposal to officially field Maia Sandu as the only candidate of all those who sincerely want the Republic of Moldova to keep the orientation to the West and to become a fully-fledged member among the civilized countries of the European Union” says the PEVM.
Realizing the dangers to the country’s European course coming from the parties of the left, the Green Ecologist Party of Moldova calls on the candidates for the office of President who share the European and unionist course – Ana Gutu, Mihai Ghimpu, Iurie Leanca, Marian Lupu, Valeriu Giletski, and Silvia Radu – to withdraw from the presidential race and make concerted efforts to consolidate and unite the voters and whole Moldovan society so as to elect an upright, pro-European person as President.
The PEVM also calls upon the extraparliamentary parties to leave aside the narrow party interests and to mobilize their supporters so that these vote for Maia Sandu in the first round of voting. “We call on the intellectuals and opinion leaders to disseminate through their messages the opinion that the unity of the European voters, society and the people who realize that the Republic of Moldova has a future only in the European Union to support Maia Sandu so that she becomes a President of the people who would guarantee the European course, the rule of law, prosperity and preeminence of the law,” said the party.
The Green Ecologist Party of Moldova calls on its members and supporters to take part in the elections, to become actively involved in the election campaign and to vote for Maia Sandu in the expected two rounds of voting.
