The MP of the Șor Political Party Petru Jardan was deprived of parliamentary immunity. A draft decision in this regard has been voted today, September 20, at the plenary of the Parliament, based on the request of the General Prosecutor's Office. The MP was not present at the meeting, IPN reports.
Acting Prosecutor General Dumitru Robu stated at the Parliament's plenary that Petru Jardan was summoned by the Legal Commission, being offered the opportunity to express himself concerning the immunity withdrawal, but the MP did not show up. "In the course of the criminal investigation, conclusive evidence was administered indicating the reasonable suspicion that during 2013, the MP Petru Jardan, acting based on a predetermined plan, in the interest of an organized criminal group, led by Ilan Șor, in agreement with the members of the tender commission for the selection of the concessionaire of the assets of Chisinau International Airport state enterprise, by exceeding job duties, created conditions, removed obstacles and directly contributed to the concerted takeover of the control on the assets of the Airport by the economic agent created and affiliated to the organized group ”, noted Dumitru Robu.
The group colleague of Petru Jardan, MP Denis Ulanov, said that yesterday at the meeting of the Legal Commission for appointments and immunities it was announced that Jardan was abroad and would return on Monday. The parliamentarian also said that the arguments regarding the urgency of examining the issue of lifting immunity are missing.
58 parliamentarians voted to lift the parliamentary immunity of MP Petru Jardan.
One day ago, the parliamentary immunity of Democrat MP Vladimir Cebotari was lifted in connection with the same case regarding the illegalities committed during the "controversial concession of Chisinau International Airport, six years ago".
The first MP who remained without parliamentary immunity in the current Parliament was the leader of Șor Political Party, Ilan Șor. Earlier this week, the immunity of MPs Marina Tauber and Reghina Apostolova from Șor Party has been lifted.
