President Igor Dodon has irrational and unpredictable behavior, analyst Petru Bogatu stated in the program “Fabrika” on Publika TV channel, referring to the dispute between the President and the government over the appointment of the minister of defense, IPN reports.

The editorialist said that most probably the President considers this is how he should act to impress the public. “I suspect that his only objective is to stir things in the Republic of Moldova up and to this way gather some political advantages before the upcoming parliamentary elections,” stated Petru Bogatu.

According to him, the presidency is a post of meditator that is rather symbolical. The current situation regarding the appointment of the minister of defense was reached also because there are particular discrepancies between the Constitution of the Republic of Moldova and legal mechanisms that should be adjusted to the realities.

Journalist Valentin Buda noted that Igor Dodon’s gestures do nothing but put Moldova in a very bad light and make Moldovan statesmen apologize when they go to civilized states. “We can only say that a method should be identified if not to stop than to interpret in accordance with the law what Igor Dodon does. The impeachment procedure could also be reached and I’m sure that more people are waiting for it at this moment,” said the journalist.

President Igor Dodon two times rejected the government’s candidate for minister of defense Eugen Sturza. At the same time, the Government requested the Constitutional Court to interpret Article 98, par. (6) of the Constitution of the Republic of Moldova so as to clarify the actions that can be taken by the Premier and the decisions that can be adopted by Parliament if the President of the Republic of Moldova rejects again the same candidate for minister. Recently, the Constitutional Court decided that the President’s powers related to national security are not exclusive and the Government has major obligations in this field.
