Petrocub Hancesti opened the European cups with a draw. The team trained by Lilian Popescu drew 1-1 with Osijek of Croatia in the first qualifying round of the UEFA Europa League, IPN reports.
The guests opened the score at the Zimbru stadium in the 51st minute through Mirko Maric. Petrocub tied in 15 minutes through striker Vladimir Ambros, who became the author of the first goal of Petrocub in the European cups.
“I think they could have played better. The lack of experience in such serious games was evident. The jitters dominated the play, especially in the first half,“ Lilian Popescu told a news conference. The second leg will be played in Osijek on July 19.
In Orhei, Milsami lost to Slovan Bratislava 2-4. Before the break, Milsami was led by 0-3. The goals for the team trained by Veaceslav Rusnac were scored by Igor Bugaiov and Romeo Surdu.
Zaria Balti was beaten in Poland by Gornik 0-1.
