The European Union will attentively follow the anticorruption measures taken and the advancing of reforms in the justice and financial-banking sectors of Moldova, the European Parliament Rapporteur for Moldova Petras Auštrevičius said in a meeting with President Nicolae Timofti on Februarys 9, IPN reports, quoting the presidential press service.
“We are waiting for the mission of the International Monetary Fund to come to Moldova so as to afterward generate actions on the part of the European institutions,” stated Petras Auštrevičius. The Lithuanian MEP noted that the EU will continue to support Moldova on condition that the results of the implementation of the pro-European agenda are visible in the immediate future.
Interacting with the journalists after the meeting, the European official said the association agenda with the EU is an excellent plan for reforming the problematic areas in Moldova.
Nicolae Timofti stated that the bad practices used in Moldova must be rooted out and the European Union cans help the country in this regard. Moldova should follow the example of Romania in implementing the association and European integration program.
“During the official visit that I will pay to Bucharest, I will discuss possibilities of strengthening our cooperation in areas that will stimulate Moldova’s progress on the path of Europeans integration,” stated Nicolae Timofti.
The European Parliament Rapporteur for Moldova is paying a three-day visit to Chisinau. He had a number of meetings with Moldovan officials and politicians.
