Doctors of the Cahul District Hospital sent a petition to the country's leadership and also to the Ministry of Health. The complaint contains a series of accusations against the director of the institution Vasile Rotaru. Specifically, according to the petitioners, "the director maintains a tense work environment, based on intimidation and strict controls on staff", but also abuses the position he holds. Contacted by IPN for a comment, Vasile Rotaru said that what is stated in the petition is not true and the fact that the complaint is anonymous raises serious questions.
"Performance indicators are reduced for no clear reason, and the personnel are frequently threatened with dismissal. Vacation, sick or other personal leave is approved only at the discretion of the director. There is a lack of transparency in the management of resources and professional training," reads the petition.
“In two years since the director was appointed, no significant repair works have been carried out although the hospital's infrastructure is in a deplorable state. Donations and equipment received are managed non-transparently and some are hidden or are not used.”
The hospital’s director has told IPN that the petition is anonymous as it is not signed by anyone. "I don't know on behalf of which of my colleagues it was written. I brought this petition to the attention of the team. What is written there does not correspond to reality. It remains to be analyzed according to the legislation and we will see what the conclusions will be," said Vasile Rotaru.
IPN made a request for information to the Ministry of Health to find out the institution's reaction in this case, but has not yet received a response.
