The Party of European Socialists (PES) welcomes the appointment of Marian Lupu of the Democratic Party (PDM) as a candidate to the office of President of the Republic of Moldova, IPN reports.

In a message issued on September 3, PES says that it appreciates the candidacy of Marian Lupu who already had an unequivocal pro-European pleading in the first speech he gave after he was appointed to run in the October 30 presidential elections by his Democratic colleagues.

The message also says that the close relationship between the two parties was confirmed in 2015 by advancing the PDM’s status of PES associate member. The PES considers this cooperation develops constantly both through the support provided at international level and by the bilateral relations that lead to the strengthening of the partnership between Moldova and the EU.
