The legislature on February 7 passed in the first reading a law that envisions the allocation of a lump sum of 600 lei in assistance to persons whose pensions and allowances do not exceed 2,000 lei until April 1 this year, IPN reports.

It is estimated that over 600,000 persons will benefit from such support. The costs for implementing the law will be covered with the allocations transferred from the state budget to the state social insurance budget.

The bill needs to be given a final reading to come into force.
