Persons with hearing impairments will get free medical consultation

Persons with hearing impairments will be able to get free medical consultation as part of a campaign that will run throughout Moldova in March and April. Themed “The Hearing Caravan”, the campaign is initiated by the Moldovan Association of Persons with Hearing Impairments AUZ, Info-Prim Neo reports. According to AUZ head Sergey Kasmynin, the campaign's activities include exhaustive audiological testing, advice for the use of hearing devices, and technical examination of devices. The consultation will be given by professional audiologists, including from Germany. In early March, the team of audiologists will go to Comrat (March 3 and 4), Ceadyr-Lunga (March 5), and then will travel to Cahul, Hancesti and Orhei. In April, the team will provide consultation in Balti and Chisinau. “We decided to initiate this campaign following the multitude of requests by the persons with hearing impairments throughout the country, most of them elderly, who are not able to travel to Chisinau to see a doctor”, explained Sergei Kasmynin. It is estimated that 10 percent of Moldova's population suffer from hearing deficiencies.
