Persons with dual, Romanian and Moldovan nationalities do not need visas

The persons that hold dual nationally, Romanian and Moldovan, can travel visa free using the valid Moldovan passport, Lidia Ursu, the head of the chancellery of the Moldovan Embassy in Romania, has told Info-Prim Neo. According to Lidia Ursu, the Romanian citizens that want to travel to Romania must have a passport that is valid for at least six months more, a picture, a standard invitation from the Migration and Asylum Office of the Moldovan Ministry of the Interior and a round-trip ticket. If they want to travel by their own car, they must have the registration certificate and car insurance. The documents are filed to the Consular Section of the Embassy of Moldova in Romania and are processed within five workdays. The visa is issued free of charge. The head of the Consular Section could not be contacted during two days as the Consulate’s telephone line was always busy. “The situation is obvious. All the people need visas before the holidays,” Lidia Ursu explained. The Moldovan Consulate in Romania works Monday through Friday, from 8.00 until 17.00. From April 9, the Romanian citizens cannot enter Moldova without visas even if an agreement signed by Moldova and the European Union provides for the exemption from visas for the EU citizens, including Romanians.
