Persons with disabilities awarded 50 to 500 lei on their day
On their day, the persons with disabilities received allowances worth 50 to 500 lei. An allowance was 191 lei on average. The lowest allowances were paid to the residents of Soroca district – 50 lei for the persons with the third invalidity degree, 80 lei – for those with the second invalidity degree and 100 lei for those with the first invalidity degree. The highest social benefit of 500 lei was paid in Sangerei district, Info-Prim Neo reports.
A number of 500 invalids of the first degree, 750 disabled children and 276 deaf mute persons received allowances of 350 lei in the municipality of Chisinau.
According to the Ministry of Social Protection, Family and Child, 12.2 million lei was allocated from the national population support fund and 2.2 million lei from the local funds for the purpose.
The administrations of Cahul, Cimislia, Drochia, Edinet, Floresti, Leova, Rascani, Soroca, Soldanesti, Taraclia and Ungheni districts, of the Autonomous Territorial Unit Gagauzia and the municipality of Balti did not contribute money to help the persons with disabilities. The other districts offered between 10,000 lei and 318,000 lei, the Ministry says in a communiqué.
A sum of 11 million lei was allocated last year from the national population support fund, by 1 million lei less than this year. The benefit was 158 lei on average, the quoted source said.
The International Day of the Persons with Disabilities is celebrated yearly on December 3.
