Persons willing to get or give up Moldovan citizenship will pay more for this. The parliament approved on Thursday, 23 February, in first and second lecture increase of state taxes collected for giving or withdrawing Moldovan citizenship. Thus, to get citizenship of Moldova it was set the tax of 90 lei, compared to 36 lei – current tax, increasing this way 2.5 times, and to give up the citizenship will be paid 180 lei, compared to 9 lei now, representing 20 times more. The authors of the project motivated this increase by the fact that taxes were set in 1992, when the minimum salary was 18 lei, and now the minimum salary is 200 lei, and these taxes do not cover the administrative expenses.
