The persons and organizations that in the course of 2018 contributed to the observance and promotion of human rights in the Republic of Moldova were awarded at the 14th UN Gala of Human Rights Awards in the evening of December 6. Organized each year on the occasion of International Human Rights Day that is celebrated on December 10, the event highlights and awards the most valuable, innovative, effective and participatory initiatives and actions to protect and promote human rights in Moldova, IPN reports.
Vladimir Gaiț, director of the company Bertam Grup, won the award for outstanding achievements in the area of human rights in the Republic of Moldova. “Promo-LEX” Association was awarded for promoting the principles of equality in dignity and rights and of not leaving anyone behind, and also for long-lasting activity in the remarkable promotion of human rights.
The special mention for the best work at the creation contest entitled “Human Rights among Students” went to Daria Lupan, a student of the Chisinau-based Theoretical Lyceum “Ion Creangă”.
The award winners were selected following an open competition that involved 41 submissions. The criteria used in evaluation included creativity, perseverance, dedication and courage proven in promoting human rights and impact of these actions on human lives.
