Persons who need transplantation will be included in electronic database

The persons who need transplantation will be included in an electronic database that was launched by the Transplant Agency and the Health Ministry on February 25. When there is a donor of organs, the system will analyze the compatibility between the donor and the applicants and will determine the possibility of doing the transplantation, Info-Prim Neo reports. During the launch, Health Minister Andrei Usatyi said the system will ensure the identification of the potential recipients by classifying the eligibility criteria. The waiting lists will be unified and this will enable to find the compatible donor in a sort period of time. Transplant Agency director Igor Codreanu said that only operations with transplants from leaving donors are performed in Moldova. The authorities are examining the possibility of transplanting organs from cadaver donors, but there should be a waiting list of persons. The Transplant system already ensured the interconnection with the state population register and will interact with other information modules concerning transmitted diseases for integrating the information concerning registered donors. The value of the project is 860,000 lei. One third of the money represents a subsidy from the Swiss Agency for Development and Cooperation, while two thirds is allocated from the budget funds of the Health Ministry. The development of this automated information system will enable to monitor any transplantation activity in Moldova.
