Quebec is further disposed to accept Moldovan emigrants. Those that want to settle in the Canadian province can take part in informative meetings organized by the Canadian Government in Chisinau. The number of immigrants to Quebec is not limited, Info-Prim Neo reports. At a news conference in Chisinau on Wednesday, Jean Pascal Vachon, official of the Quebec Immigration Bureau in Vienna, said that those that want to emigrate to Quebec must know the French language and the social, political and cultural situation in this province and meet the Bureauʾs requirements. The applicants must fill out the preliminary assessment form online. If the answer is favorable, they can file the official immigration application – the Application for Selection Certificate (ASC). If the applicants obtains the ASC, they can send the case to the Embassy of Canada to be issued with a permanent residence visa. The case is examined during 9 to 12 months. The examination of the case costs 390 Canadian dollars (about 3,500 lei), plus 150 Canadian dollars (about 1,300 lei) for a family member. The selected applicants pledge to inform themselves about a place of residence and a job in Quebec. According to Jean-Pascal Vachon, the major objectives of the Quebecʾs migration policy include the renewal and rejuvenation of the population, obtaining of a skilled workforce and preservation of the francophone community. The persons that will settle in Quebec can apply for Canadian citizenship in only three years. Dual nationality is allowed. 500 Moldovans or 85% of the applicants were allowed to emigrate to Quebec during 2007-2008. This year, Quebec will accept 47,400 to 50,000 immigrants, while in 2010 – between 52,400 and 55,000 emigrants. The immigrants that know French will make up at least 61% of the total.
