Persons ill-treated after April 7 protest to benefit from rehabilitation services
The persons that complained to the Chisinau City Hall that they had been arrested and maltreated by the police after the April 7 protests will benefit from psychological and legal assistance under a rehabilitation program. The Chisinau administration is looking for a partner that will support the program, Info-Prim Neo reports.
The program includes a summer camp for minors. The method of assistance for adults has not been decided yet.
Alexandra Motpan, head of the City Hall’s Local Public Administration Division, said Monday that 371 persons testified or are yet to testify that they were arrested and ill-treated by the police. Thirty-five out of these are students aged between 12 and 18, including 17 from the municipality of Chisinau. The City Hall officials contacted 160 of the 371 persons.
According to the head of the Children’s Rights Protection Division Svetlana Chifa, all the families of the mistreated children have been contacted. “It is a strange phenomenon: some parents refuse to talk to us and discuss this subject. We discuss with the students. We try to talk to the parents through the agency of psychologists, and teachers,” Svetlana Chifa said.
Tatiana Nagnibeda-Tverdohleb, the head of the General Division of Education, Youth and Sport, confirmed that the parents say they will deal with the situation by themselves. She also said that the administrations of the education institutions and class teachers intimidate none of the children.
