The persons with locomotor disabilities who are confined to bed will be exempted from paying for maintaining elevators and for the electrical energy consumed by these. A bill to this effect was adopted by Parliament after giving it a first reading, IPN reports.
The bill was drafted by PAS MP Dan Perciun. The bill says the persons with disabilities represent about 5% of the country’s population (180,600 persons). In 2020, the persons with locomotor disabilities totaled 15,499 in Moldova. A part of these persons are confined to bed.
An inhabitant of the municipality of Chisinau pays 12 lei a month on average for elevator services.
The bill is to be given a second reading.
